Minnesota's natural resources play an important role in the state's economy and its citizens' quality of life. Therefore, protecting and managing those natural resources is an important responsible. Citizens interested in leading those efforts are encouraged to run for supervisor of their local soil and water conservation district.  Being a supervisor is an opportunity for people concerned with resource management in Anoka County to become involved in policy making at the local, regional and state levels.

 Candidate Filing Period

  • Tuesday, May 21 through June 4
  • Regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • We will be open until 5:00 p.m
  • Completed candidate filings and fees (or petition in lieu of fee) must be physically received by Anoka County Elections by Tuesday, June 4 at 5:00 p.m.

 Filing Process

  • All candidates must complete an affidavit of candidacy and pay the filing fee (or petition in lieu of fee)
  • Affidavits must be notarized. This service can be performed free of charge by Anoka County Elections staff at the time of filing
  • Candidates for County Sheriff must submit a copy of their Peace Officer Standards and Training license (Anoka County Elections staff can copy at the time of filing)
  • Candidates for County Attorney must submit a copy of their law license (Anoka County Elections staff can copy at the time of filing)
  • Candidate filing packet documents will be provided at the time of filing and are also available at the Anoka County Elections website

  • All candidate filings will appear on the Secretary of State’s Candidate Filings search page at https://candidates.sos.state.mn.us/
  • Candidate filings are posted as they are received, generally the same day

 Additional Information

  • Candidates appear on the ballot for the general election
  • An individual must live in a district with an open supervisor position in order to run
  • Supervisors do not participate in primary elections.

  • There is a filing fee and each applicant will receive a filing packet with election regulations.
