(Populus deltoides)

The cottonwood is a stately tree that usually towers above all others growing up to 100' tall. Although it suffers branch breakage in windy locations, damage is generally minor and branches replaced surprisingly quickly. This is offset by the value of cottonwood's shade and the soothing wind sounds from the rattling leaves. Cottonwood is moderately shade tolerant, and will grow in a variety of soils.
