(Quercus rubra & Quercus palustris)

Red Oak and Pin Oak are similar trees both fast growing and large with brown to dark red color in the fall. Mature trees can reach heights of 60-75 feet. Both are moderately shade tolerant, will grow in a variety of soils and are moderately drought resistant.

Wildlife Food & Cover: Excellent food-acorn, insects, browse, buds. Excellent cover-nesting, perching, escape, dens, cavities.

Flowers: Inconspicuous

Fruit: Acorns - late summer
