Swamp White oak is a moderately fast growing large tree that has bi-colored leaves (dark above, lighter beneath) with yellow and occasional red-purple fall colors. A mature tree can reach heights of 50-60 feet.  Swamp White Oak prefers rich, deep, moist to wet, poorly drained, acidic soils, but adapts well to dry and average soils and is resistant to drought.  Swamp White Oak can be used in many urban conditions including street trees, due to its ability to withstand many stresses.  It can also be used as a buffer slope and shoreland stabilizer.
